The majority of people in the world are born with a disadvatage, not been born in Yorkshire. This county, in the north of England, was the powerhouse of indsustry in England. the dark satanic mills of Bradford , Sheffield famous for steel making, the coal mining communities, ship building, Middlesbrough for petro chemical industries, now sadly nearly all gone, mainly to the free market policies of Thatcher. Famous for Fylingdales "Early Warning Station, this was built in the 1960's" to give the USA 4 minutes warning of a nuclear attack from the Soviet Union, now its part of the Star Wars program.
Yorkshire is not all about industry, there are many beatiful & historic places such as the Dales, famous for All Creatures Great & Small books & TV series, Goathland were the Heartbeat TV series was filmed. York the city which goes back to Roman times, Whitby the home of Cook & Dracula, where would be today without him, Australia would be speaking French or Spanish, instead of Strine.
